Make a donation.

Our mission is to preserve Tasmania’s audio heritage and make it available for future generations. We’re seeking donations of audio equipment, records, tapes, instruments, and other items of significance to Tasmania’s sound history.

Examples of donations we’ve accepted in the past include:

  • Tasmanian-made audio equipment such as gramophones, pianolas, vintage radios and telephones, and sound recording equipment

  • Audio media such as early 78s and vinyl records, cassette tapes, CDs, Edison cylinders and pianola rolls

  • Sound-related memorabilia and ephemera, for example, programs relating to stage plays, film screenings and concert performances in Hobart and other places around Tasmania

  • Sheet music, books, journals and technical manuals

  • Interviews recorded with Tasmanian musicians, singers, performers and those involved in the radio and television industries. Recordings of concerts and other performances are also held, both at the Museum and other venues around Hobart

  • Tasmanian inventions such as the Waterworth Slide Projector and Wentworth Record changer.

We also accept financial donations, which allow us to purchase items with a particular significance and ensure these are preserved.
